Why are Real Betis called Los Béticos?
Real Betis' 'Los Béticos' nickname comes from the club's name and the Roman name for the Guadalquivir river — a green-and-white identity.
A Name from the River
Real Betis are known as Los Béticos, and at Metaverse Football Club we find it a nickname rooted in ancient geography. The name comes from "Baetis," the Roman name for the Guadalquivir river that flows through Seville, the club's home city.
Founded in 1907, Real Betis took its name from the river and its royal "Real" title. Supporters became "Los Béticos," and the green-and-white colours — unique in Spanish football — completed a distinctive identity.
A Symbol of Seville
Los Béticos reflect Seville's passionate, fiery spirit and the club's proud Andalusian roots. At Metaverse Football Club, we love how an ancient river name flows into a modern football identity.
From the Benito Villamarín to La Liga, Los Béticos wear their green with pride — a story Metaverse Football Club is glad to tell.
